About / who we are
Sleep Tight Tonight in Serenity is a non-profit organization that provides support to families, organizations, and countries struggling when tragedy strikes.

Through our Sleep Heroes program, we are able to give people the comfort and sleep they deserve when they are in need.
Sleep Tight Tonight is a charity fighting on the front lines to ensure families have peace, comfort, and stability to sleep at night — because someone cares enough to support them through tough times.

Birthed on February 8, 2009, Dr. Candace Benton, a clinical therapist with a Ph.D. in Human and Organizational Systems and Behavior is the founder of STT. This is born out of STT’s desire to help individuals and grassroots organizations find a level of peace and joy in their personal lives that allows them to have a peaceful night’s sleep because they know they are not invisible and there is someone working on their behalf.

In the beginning, STT did a lot of work with homeless men, where STT offered housing services to men that had been displaced by various maladies of life. Most recently, STT has changed its focus but not its heart’s desire to help those in need.

Today, STT focuses on what is known as the “working poor”.
Many of these individuals work every day but are unable to ‘make ends meet’. This usually surfaces at the end of the month when all of their funds are depleted yet all of their needs have not been taken care of. They continually live in a gap that needs to be filled.

She has served on the board of very influential non-profit organizations and consults, free of charge, as a way to stay current on the trends that are moving the industry. Angela Watson
Chief Executive Officer

Angela Watson is a 41-year-old young lady that has a passion for the working poor and other disenfranchised populations. She has worked within this community helping to lift many out of poverty through a system of compassionate, loving, care. She has been both a recipient of care and a distributor of care in her lifetime. She understands the anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, feelings of rejection that come from “lack”. She understands how individuals are judged differently, treated differently, and are forced to live a life that is void of dignity and respect. As such, Angela brings a unique perspective to the table and a burning passion for helping others. Angela will work with a team of volunteers around the USA to identify families and individuals that need help. Her role will be to vet these individuals and to ensure the needed help is in place for them.

Sgt. George Samuel Benton, II

George is a young man that was raised in a home full of compassion. He also served 9 years in the Army Reserve and returned home with many of the maladies that plague veterans. He has fallen on hard times and understands what it means to be homeless, not have enough, and to have to struggle on your own in hopes that someone or some organization will come along beside you to give you a hands up. He brings a unique perspective to the team. Sgt. Benton served in the United States National Guard from 2007 to 2018. Sgt. Benton understands what it means to come home from service and not have the support that is needed to make a smooth transition. Sgt. Benton will assist STT in helping friends that have dutifully and faithfully served their country by helping them address some of the nuances of re-entering civilian life.

Brenda Flanagan

Ms. Flanagan comes to STT with a wealth of experience. She worked in the New York systems of care for over 30 years managing sites and overseeing governmental systems and protocols. She is compassionate, a great listener, concerned about people, and has a vast amount of information on how to address problems on various levels. She is like a “Mama Bear” ensuring that the proper systems and protocols are in place and developing new ways to address emerging issues.

Casey Benton

Casey Benton currently serves in the United States Navy as an engineman second class Petty officer. Casey was born in Glendale, AZ and enlisted in the Navy January 28th, 2016. She trained in Waukegan, IL. STT is interested in serving our women that have served in the military. Casey will lend her expertise, experience, compassion, and love in this area. She will assist STT keeping track of the needs of this unique population, focusing on those that are no longer in active duty and face the challenges of transition back into a world that is not always supportive. STT wants to be there for these female heroes.

Sabrina Sequichie

Sabrina Sequichie is a 24-year-old young lady living in the city of San Bernardino, CA. She loves animals, eating all-natural, finding new ways to save the earth, and she loves people. Her grandfather is a full-blooded Cherokee Indian from Tahlequah, Oklahoma. She spent a lot of her childhood with him and her grandmother. She has a love and heart for Native Americans of all tribes and heritage. She will reach into the various tribes, help identify needs, and help bring love and honor to those that have traditionally been forgotten.

Kenny and Dedra

Kenny and Dedra are members of the STT team. They are stationed in Rochester, NY, and will serve as the East Coast liaisons for STT. Kenny and Dedra have been in the helping profession for over 25 years. They are what would be referred to as “Naturals”. They love to love people and especially those that are in need of emotional, spiritual, and/or financial support. They have been helping young mothers, children, elderly, and the homeless population in their neighborhood and beyond without expectation or compensation. They join our team with the STT mindset — “Helping others is a joy!” Kenny and Dedra will head up the East Coast portion of the STT team.

Kimberly McCruter

Kimberly is stationed in Atlanta, GA. She is outgoing, always ready to help, meets no strangers, and has a heart for the broken and downtrodden. Kim was raised in a family that openly displayed acts of kindness on a daily basis. Kimberly is no stranger to care and compassion and will head up the southern portion of the USA for STT.
Our Egypt Team Ambassadors

Ramadan Hassan and Yasser Abdel-Fatah
Ramadan and Yasser are natives and residents of Luxor, Egypt. They have worked with STT for almost 2 years. They help by being the point person in Egypt and identify families and individuals that need assistance. They distribute the funds and goods that are sent to Egypt from STT. The utilize funds to purchase food, clothing, toiletries, and other needed items and commodities. Both Ramadan and Yasser have compassionate hearts. They understand ‘honor’ and the need to lift others up when they are facing the multiple life challenges that emerge in living the Egyptian life. Ramadan and Yasser are vital part of the STT team by helping STT understand the needs, the culture, and the multiple ways that STT can partner with Egypt.
Our Mexico Team Ambassadors
Juan and Erica Rodriguez
This lovely couple heads up efforts in Mexico. They are long time pioneers in the culture of ‘honor”. They pastor a church in Rialto, CA, and they take services, goods, food, love and compassion to some of the most vulnerable men and women in Mexico. Many of these families and individuals live on the fringe of Mexico. They have no or extremely limited access to food, clothing, care, and compassion. For all intent and purposes…they are truly forgotten. Juan and Erica work with STT to advise the STT team on what is needed and how to best distribute goods and services to those most in need. Through Juan and Erica, STT has been able to assist with serving this population and STT will be able to expand their services to our Mexican brother and sisters.
